When Jon from Aperture Music said Disney might use one of the songs from my mariachi album, Diana Canta la Venganza, he also said not to get excited because sometimes companies change their mind. Nevertheless, Disney was considering one of my songs for their biopic about two Indian youths who became the first men from India to sign with an American Major League baseball team. (The Philadelphia Phillies.)
I forgot all about it.
Last summer, my friend Linda called and said, "Hey, I just saw your credit for Million-Dollar Arm! I knew you could do it!"
What?!
I was going to watch the film as soon as I got back to Tucson, but I forgot! This week I finally watched the movie. They use so little of my song that I had to listen really, really carefully for it. But if you're patient and watch the song credits, mine happens to be on the top line of the right-hand side. How's that for exposure!
It's not a bad way to start. Thanks, Aperture Music! And thanks to Disney too. And now I can say I've actually watched a recent sports movie and enjoyed it.
Have you seen the movie? Did you happen to hear a snippet of mariachi music? Never mind--it's a sweet film about two tremendous--and fortunate--players.
